about the writer

Born and raised in Calumet City, a suburb of Chicago, ​Stockton has resided in Northwest Indiana since the age of ​16. She remains a “city kid”, claiming Chicago roots. She ​has written copy for websites, resumes, policies, fiction, ​and flash, and specializes in poetry and creative nonfiction.


Stockton currently lives with her husband, three adult sons ​and three unruly dogs, and is enrolled at Bay Path ​University seeking an MFA in Creative Nonfiction, ​specializing in Narrative Medicine.

Two pieces, “Black” and “Light Oak”, were chosen for ​publication in Purdue Northwest’s literary journal, ​Furnace. Stockton was also awarded a First Place in ​Creative Nonfiction for “Black”, about her experience ​starting a job at a funeral home and cemetery.
